Transd.  Biplane
View Upper esophagus. A: Horizontal plane, short axis at the level of aortic valve. B: As in A, modified to visualize left circumflex artery.
Abbrev. LA: Left atrium; PA: Pulmonary artery.

Comments

A: Baseline exam before coronary artery by-pass surgery. Horizontal arrow points at origin of left main coronary artery from aortic root. Stenosis of proximal anterior descending artery indicated by slight color Doppler aliasing (arrow). B: Left circumflex with color Doppler flow (yellow).
A: La freccia orizzontale punta all'origine del tronco comune coronarico.

Transd. Biplane
View Upper Esophagus, as in A

Comments

C: Normal coronary pulsed Doppler flow velocities in left main artery. Velocities are low (30 cm/s) and prevalent in diastole. D: Signficant increase in diastolic velocities (140 cm/s) in proximal anterior descending stenotic segment.

Comments

E:Same image as in A, but immediately after coronary artery by-pass grafting; no color Doppler aliasing. F:Pulsed Doppler velocities in proximal left anterior descending artery are reduced (60 cm/s) compared to D.
